Oironaoshi

This is another one of my hand made things for my wedding day. This is a choker and bracelet for my night dress, which I will change into from my wedding dress. Japanese weddings are sort of like a show. It's like a stage for the bride and groom to literally show around your family and friends. In Japanese a reception is called "Hiro-en", which the literal translation is "introduction party". So what a married couple does in that reception is to introduce themselves to the guests, introduce how they got married, and walk around the reception hall to introduce themselves to their guests. As an event at the reception, the bride often changes their wedding dress into a colored dress or colored kimono. The event is called "oironaoshi", meaning literally "color change".

So these handmade accessories are for that occation. This is an other hobby of mine, making accessories. I've worked with beads-glass, wood, natural rocks and pearls. This particular one I made with pearls, and free metalico, which are ribbons made of very fine wire knitted into a ribbon. It's a very fun material to play around with. You can twist, widen, cut, and multiple other things. :-)

Wow, that is gorgeous, Okomot! ^_^ You ought to considering opening a business of your creations, accessories, original artwork, the whole nine yards. I can't wait to see how many dresses you will change into. Also, if you need help carrying all the stuff around, let Sara or I know, and we'll be happy to cart things for you, or help you change, or anything else that you might need.

Table linens, huh? Do you have a particular color scheme you love? Anything to match with the things you already own? Or would you like to be surprised? ^_^

I'm so glad you're writing a blog! I feel like it's so much easier to see what you're up to and to keep in touch. Writing short comments is easier, in some ways, than emails. I'll see you in about 2 weeks! SQUEE!!!
