Hey Okomot! Baby showers are basically female get-togethers when the mom-to-be is in her third trimester of pregnancy. The women fuss over the mother-to-be, give her gifts that are useful for the new baby, and generally just hang out, eat, and have fun together. It's not that different from a bridal shower, really. My sister-in-law had a shower for Cora, her first daughter, but skipped it for the second daughter, who was born just two days ago! ^_^ (I've sent pictures of her to your main email address)
Hope to see you and Shige and the new baby in Oregon sometime in the next year or two! (although we'll come see you in Japan well before that). ^_^
